Exciting, Sad, Funny & Intriguing,
Trinity Ascension Code: Guided by the Unheard, the Vibration that Awakened My Soul by Sage Tedlow is the first of a trilogy. It starts off with what was supposed to be a girls’ trip, but due to unforeseen circumstances and a booking mistake, the author and her friend Louisa ended up going to Mandeka in Africa. What started off as a replacement holiday quickly turned into something much bigger. In just 14 weeks, the author saw children being used as currency, European men flaunting entitlement, charities painting hope for a better life, and police officials who are more focused on appearance and bribery rather than the protection of their citizens.
This book truly opened my eyes to a lot of things. I am no stranger to the fact that people do sell their bodies for money, but seeing old men going for children that are barely 12 years old really broke my heart. I am so proud of the author, as she courageously fought against a system where silence is safer than justice. The author stood against a system that punishes a thief but stays silent about sexual exploitation. I especially like how well she handled the case of Safiya, whom an official demanded sex from in exchange for approval. Her insistence forced the police men to do their job. Beyond sexual exploitation, this book also opens your eyes to the gap between glossy charity images and lived reality. The author had suspicions about performative charity, and her visit to Children’s Shield confirmed this. Subsequently, the author realized that instead of waiting for indifferent officials to take action, real change had to start small. This led to her sketching a grassroots child protection plan. This includes education, awareness, safe spaces, and reporting systems. The author also designed a short train-the-trainer programme for Alieu and his staff. The focus was on safe touch awareness, protective behaviours, and a worry box for anonymous concerns. These initiatives did not completely change the existing system, but they gave hope that change could happen. I was looking forward to seeing who the author would end up with, but I guess we’ll have to find that out in book two.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. It is professionally written, and I found no grammatical errors. Amidst the ever-tense occurrences that happened in Mandeka, we still had light-hearted moments when the author was referred to as the wild woman of Mandeka because she was always seen with men. The author, together with Omari and Abdou, had a good laugh about this, and she wasn’t concerned because while the town was busy upgrading her love life, no one paid attention to what she was doing, which included plotting routes and convincing stubborn landlords to open their doors to girls who had nowhere else to go. This book is a complete 5 out of 5 in my books.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in reading memoirs. This is such a good one.

Eat, Pray, Love fused with Bridget Jones – Guided by the Unheard
This made me laugh, cry and reflect about Spirituality. It was amazing to see how Spiritual laws play out in real time. Deep, dark content blended with appropriate humor! It’s a must read!

Seeing Africa through her eyes will be both heartbreaking and enlightening at the same time. She will show you both sides of the coin. A very powerful read I received an advance copy from hidden gems and will be eye opening read

Captivating – Guided by the Unheard
The book vividly addresses how the locals see themselves in the eyes of the foreigners, and also how foreigners see themselves in the eyes of the locals. Abigail insists her bag has been stolen, not misplaced, perhaps because she’s in Africa, where it’s possible to lose a suitcase as though it “had pulled a Houdini and vanished into thin air.” Adeya’s mother prefers to give Adeya to a white man because, in doing so, maybe Adeya might get married to a foreigner, thus escaping the cycle of poverty. The depth at which the book reveals Africa and Abigail’s quest for change will captivate readers.

Sad, Funny, Scary and so interesting – Trinity Ascension Code
I’ve just finished your books and wow you’ve made me cry, smile and see myself in you so much I’m currently trying to do something similar within our school, it’s rife with drugs, abuse, grooming ect and I’ve had to witness it first hand. So your book just gave me the strength to carry on in what has been the hardest chapter of my life so far.
Thank you for sharing your story it’s so inspiring and beautiful. I’d love to meet for a chat and to meet you properly
